The ifik employs staff from a wide range of professional groups:
- in the clinical-microbiological (diagnostic) area
- in the clinical-infectiological area
- in hospital hygiene/epidemiology
- in research and education
- in the administrative field (commercial or comparable training)
- in the logistic area (different professional groups)
- in information technology
As a rule, appointments are made by the University of the Canton of Bern (cantonal positions) or within the framework of third-party funding (Swiss National Science Foundation, other third-party funding).
