Training
The training goals in clinical microbiology
and infectiology of ifik include:
Balance
Understanding that human infectious diseases are the expression of a disturbed balance between the human organism and its microbial environment in the broadest sense.
Interaction
Understanding that the human organism is in constant mutual interaction with an extremely heterogeneous and complex physiological microflora (the "microbiome") as well as viral infectious agents (the "virome").
Behavior
Understanding that an intact (level organism, local habitat, regional, supra-regional, global) microbial ecosystem is crucial for maintaining health and that disease prevention is essentially shaped by behavior in this "microbial environment".
Society
Understanding that an intact (level organism, local habitat, regional, supra-regional, global) microbial ecosystem is crucial for maintaining health and that disease prevention is essentially shaped by behavior in this "microbial environment".
Training curricula
The training curricula in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases in human medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and cell biology convey on the one hand interdisciplinary basic knowledge as well as discipline-specific focal points.
An extensive staff from all areas of activity of the ifik is committed to a high-quality and always up-to-date academic education and prepares the necessary teaching documents.
